we will shine like stars in the summer night
my life is amazing.
I just returned from one of my favorite events on earth with tons and tons of things to enlighten, enliven and inspire me.
Then I went to see the second best band in the world with a dozen or so of my comrades, shouting about robots and karate into the night air.
Now, I'm looking for an apartment in Buenos Aires for the next several months.
And there's other, really really really big news which I will divulge at some later date.
For now, please to follow this link for something transcendently awexome.

Back to school, or Is the name busblog taken?
My first day of not working but taking Spanish was today, and like any good person scared shitless by An Inconvenient Truth and unwilling to pay for high gas prices and outrageous parking fees, I took the bus. It was fun if a bit long, and the bus goes from two blocks from my place to about 100 yards from my classroom. I bought myself a bus pass for the month of July and some tokens which didn't work for the rest of June. Oh, and I got my textbook and workbook free because we're a pilot program for changing the university's book to the one we're using. A $160 value. Dude. Sweet.
For you today, Stevie Wonder doing my favorite Stevie song on Sesame Street:
The kid shaking his head around on the balcony/platform is the bomb. He's probably like 40 now.

They Chose ME

Nothing much to report here.
I start learning Spanish on Monday.
I wish I had more wine. But walking to the grocery store precludes buying more than a bottle when you have other food to buy. I made meself some steak with eggplant and onions and a greek salad for dinner. Oh, and go Argentina, even though they tied. I hope they crush Mexico. And go USA tomorrow.
But most of all for the copa mundial, Hop Schweiz!!
Oh, yeah, that shady chap up there is here because I wanted to tell you about the beard of bees.
Hi, bye.

Indiana was the dog's name.

That man is Semir Osmanagic. He's standing on what he believes is the first step pyramid ever discovered in Europe. He thinks this hlll:

is it.
The evidence is still coming in, but it looks to be developing into a fairly convincing case.
But seriously, Semir, nice outfit.

Also, the "file photo" at China's ever lovely Xinhua Online is just super bad ass:

Mayor of Toontown

Kimberly Willliamson Butler isn't from New Orleans, but Buffalo.
She has, however, spent seven years in New Orleans. And wants to be the mayor of New Orleans.
All fine and good.
But she's photoshopped herself (or more likely, her publicity agency has photoshopped her) in front of New Orleans Square.
Disneyland.
New Orleans may indeed be rebuilt as a theme park.

UPDATE: Apparently I'm late to the party. Matt pointed out that boing boing already covered this on Thursday. The best link from BB?
Campaign billboards for other areas of Disneyland.

Blow Up

Another nifty application of LEDs, The Ballon Lamp from kyouei ltd.:
2,900 yen
They are a lamp which is made with a balloon and LED.The LED has no generation off power like other lights, such as incandescent lamps. And it has high illumination, long lifetime and is energy-saving. And it is also possible to use it continuously over 100 hours by using the lithium-coin battery.

Ceci n'est pas une post.

From Something Awful:
Now it's not just "move the crude block," it's "move the crude block that killed his wife and is haunted by a demon of his own guilt."
Pretentious Video Games
The pic reminds me of my long lost cybercarnet.

A pixel is worth like 472 words.

David at Ironic Sans has created pre-pixelated clothing perfect for your reality TV needs. Pretty nifty. And I really, really like the black shirt, independent of the 'cute' idea. They're for sale at cafe press. If only they were a bit cheaper.
